Interesting Facts:

-Debussy entered the Paris Conservatory at 11 years old where he 

 studied composition.

-He began the Impressionistic music movement following the 
 example of Claude Monet in art. Impressionistic composers used 
 vague outlines of melody and rhythm, soft, colorful tones and 
 shimmering effects to paint their pictures with music.

-Debussy won second prize in the Prix de Rome in 1883 and in 1884 

 won first prize with his composition L’enfant prodigue.

-He also worked as a music critic.

-Debussy wrote Children’s Corner for his daughter Chouchou.
