-The Beatles were the world’s most popular musical group from 1964 to 1970.
-They met in Liverpool, England performing in a band called the Quarrymen.
-The Beatles made their American debut on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964.
- Rooted in 1950’s rock and roll, the Beatles later experimented with
several musical styles ranging from pop ballads and Indian music to
psychedelic and hard rock, often incorporating classical elements in
innovative ways.
-In 1965 Queen Elizabeth II appointed all four Beatles Members of the Order
of the British Empire.
-The Beatles filmed several movies including Help, A Hard Day’s Night,
Magical Mystery Tour, Let it Be, Yellow Submarine.
-Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr all released solo albums in
1970. Paul McCartney had success in the 1970’s with the band Wings.
-The Beatles are the best-selling band in history, with an estimated sales
of over 600 million records worldwide.
-The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, and all
four were inducted individually from 1994-2015
